Information We Collect
Newsletter subscription
If you submit the email-capture form, we receive your email address and the timestamp of the submission. The data is stored with our email service provider (ESP), which acts as a processor on our behalf. We do not enrich your record with data from third parties.
Server logs and analytics
Our hosting provider records standard web server logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL, response status, size) for up to 30 days for the purposes of abuse prevention and capacity planning. After 30 days the logs are deleted. We do not log full IP addresses in any analytics product.
Cookies and local storage
We do not set advertising cookies. We may use a single first-party cookie or local-storage entry to remember your dark-mode preference; you can clear it at any time through your browser.
Web fonts
This site self-hosts its web fonts (Inter, JetBrains Mono, Source Serif 4) from our own server. No third-party font requests are made when you load a page.
How We Use Information
- To send the newsletter you subscribed to.
- To detect and prevent abuse and security incidents.
- To measure overall article popularity so we know what to write next.
We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling, and we do not share it with third parties except the limited number of processors described below.
Processors and Sharing
- Hosting — the company that serves our static files (currently Netlify, Cloudflare Pages, GitHub Pages, or Vercel — see footer for the active one).
- Email service provider — the company that stores your email if you subscribe. Their privacy policy applies to the data they hold.
- Affiliate networks — when you click an affiliate link (such as our ChatGPT Plus referral), the destination site may set its own cookies. We do not see any of that data.
We do not sell, rent, lease, or share your personal information with marketing partners or data brokers.
Affiliate Disclosure
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you buy ChatGPT Plus through one of our links, we may earn a small commission at no cost to you. Affiliate relationships are described in detail on our disclosure page.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict the processing of your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address on the contact page. We respond within 30 days.
Children's Privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13 (or under the equivalent age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

Material changes will be highlighted in the main feed or in a newsletter update. The "last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
